Screencasts

Screencast duration isn't by any means the most important aspect of the research or the heaviest weighted desired objective, but let's face it. If your going to take the time to write the same application in seven different languages, looking at which platform is the fastest to develop is certainly the one developers are most interested in. Below you can watch the acutal screencasts. Remeber that these are "simulating" an expert developing an application using his/her tools and framework of choice. By having us develop the application in advance, write down the instructions, have the code "code reviewed", and then rewriting with the camera on, we are trying to create a level playing field and simulate what we didn't have time to do in the real world, which is have a "Bake Off"!

In general you'll notice that the scripting languages are faster in from scratch applications in the three tier arena, but think about it what happens when you can't assume one table one object?... The Enterprise Profile 3 would really be the test of interest.

You don't want to miss this condensed screencast that shows 4 side by side screencasts (MP4)sped up at high speed to show the contrast in development time of the simple web application.
