Groovy Grails in action!

Ed and I are diligently working on a new startup company that delivers training over the web. You can look forward to future training courses on the various web application technology platforms that we analyzed here on http://www.webagogy.com

If you are wondering, yes we chose groovy and grails for technology platform. What happens when we are 1/2 million lines of code in you say? Don't know but check back here and we'll share the experience.

What is obviously missing in this research?

There are four things that immediately come to my mind when asked, "What didn't you do that most reasonable engineers would care about, before making this kind of decision?" We have discussed our desire to continue this research in the Future section of the site.

This is a valuable, but by no mean all encompassing list.

  • Issue 1: Security
  • Issue 2: Performance
  • Issue 3: Refactoring
  • Issue 4: Enterprise Concerns / Integration

Groovy Grails Profile 2 Hot Off the Press!

So I finished the Profile2 or Three Tier Web Application with a screencast time of 1:32:42 for Groovy on Grails. Just a little slower than Ruby, Python, PHP and a little faster than Cold Fusion for Profile2. Take a look at the screencast portion of the site for details.

Groovy Grails Profile 1 Hot Off the Press!

So I finished the Profile1 or Simple Web Application with a screencast time of 18:20 for Groovy on Grails. Just a little slower than Ruby on Rails and a little faster than Python Django for Profile1. Take a look at the screencast portion of the site for details.

Origination of the Research

I originally had the idea for this research after watching a very interesting but less than objective screen cast Sean Kelly from Northrop Grumman, California Institute of Technology and JPL. http://oodt.jpl.nasa.gov/better-web-app.mov

I used this video to inspire my fellow authors. Thanks to Mr. Kelly who made the whole endeavor look so simple. Fortunately, they blame me not you.
